Cinematic Lighting

Dagmar and her quill searching inspiration
Here are some sample of works done with my students during my Spring 2015 Advanced Photography Class I am organizing in Shanghai. This time, the topic is Student’s portrait with cinematographic lighting. A different session than with my other class, as we were looking for Studio Harcourt type of mood.

Most of photographer do not like to be taken in pictures
And my students are no exception to that rule,
Due to the shared excitement of the Advanced Photography Class, a large majority of my students finally agree to be part of the set.
And I am always amazed by the final result as, due to their lack of acting experience, their performance are interestingly genuine, showing sometime an hidden part of their personality.
If mastering Technics is a great part of success in photography, especially in studio, I like to think that human relationship with the participant is even more crucial to achieve something unforgettable.
