Hidden Talent
This is the very first short movie I had done during my film making course. It was shot in 18 hours only. It was my first experience of teaching while shooting.

This is the story of a matrices room, a place which can give you more insight about your hidden talent. Should you take it or leave it? Comfort of the “real” and usual life can sometime weight too much in our decision, even we know that “normal life” can be deadly boring. Adventurous spirit is not accessible to all of us… Do we really get the best out of ourselves and do we really live our life?
I shot this 5 minutes fiction during a new film making class (at that time), I am teaching and organizing in Shanghai.
I did it with 3 assistants in 3 x 5 hours shooting program (on Sunday) + 3 hours sound recording.
I wrote the story-board according very strict parameter : I had to shoot inside the school to take no risk with the tight and no flexible schedule.
I had to write a story according my main actor talent.
The shot list could not exceed 15 to 18 hours shooting time. I had to do it with a very low budget: about 900 US$
I mostly invest this amount in few props, equipment rental and my usual professional assistant fees for the 3 shooting days.
6 students followed the process. I had to teach in the meantime I was setting lights, handling camera and directing the actor. I spent 2 full weeks editing.
